My Grandma was sent to Heaven tonight. She would have been 95 years old this month. Her heart was broken many years ago, and she never fully healed, which may have led some people to believe her life was not full….but it was. I have never met someone who enjoyed the simple pleasures of life as much as her. I can recall the size of the smile on her face when she held my hand as a child, never wanting to let go. She always tried to give me the change in her purse, even when it was all that she had. I appreciated that more than you ever knew, Grandma. One of the last things you ever asked me for was “ice cream.” You enjoyed that ice cream the way a young child does as you told me a story about your “boyfriend, Jimmy” who lived at the nursing home with you. Even though I struggled to understand your words, your voice was heard. That day I held your hand and my smile was as wide as I remember yours when you held my hand in my childhood. It was one of the sweetest moments in my life, and I will treasure it forever in my heart. You have been sent to a place of peace, where you will never have your heart broken again. Now you can eat as much ice cream as you want in Heaven as you hold hands with your mom, dad, sisters, and brother. I love you, Grandma. RIP
