Nora M. (Nancy) O’Connor Kennedy

Nora M. (Nancy) O’Connor Kennedy
Born October 1, 1932 in New York City to Winifred (Lyons) and Edward O’Connor. She was raised in the Bronx and graduated from Saint Barnabas High School; Class of 1950.
Nancy married Patrick Joseph (Joe) Kennedy on November 20, 1954. Besides her spouse, she leaves behind two daughters, Moira Prunty (Dan) and Sheila McEnery (Jerry), grandchildren Megan Belser (Evan), Kate Flanagan (Sean), Annie and Conor Prunty, Matthew McEnery (Amber) and Caroline McEnery. Her cherished granddaughter, Caitlin McEnery, predeceased her. Nancy was blessed with and leaves behind the following great grandchildren, Simon and Hannah Belser, Owen Flanagan, Winifred McEnery, Aja and Sophie Schon and Liam Rogness. She is also survived by her brothers Tom and Ed O’Connor; she was predeceased by her brother John and sister Margaret.
Nancy was a valued administrative assistant at a number of companies through the years. Most recently she worked in the library at Holy Family School in New Rochelle, and was a respected and well-loved member of the staff at The Ursuline School, a place she loved. One of Nancy’s proudest accomplishments was studying for and receiving her TCRG (Irish Dance Teacher certification). She was one of the first Irish American females to achieve this distinction and ran a successful Irish Step dancing school for many years. She, herself was a champion Irish step dancer. An avid reader, Nancy could always be found with a book in hand-ready with a critique or recommendation.
Her family was the most important part of Nancy’s life and she showed all of us her love and care every day. This value was followed in importance by her love of all things Irish; she never hesitated to speak with pride of her heritage.
We would like to thank our extended family and friends for their love and support and most especially the doctors, nurses and staff at White Plains Hospital for their tender and loving care.
