Life is eternal, and love is immortal,
and death is only a horizon;
and a horizon is nothing save the limit of our sight.
~Rossiter Worthington Raymond
On Saturday, May 7, 2016, Katherine S. Williams went home to be with the Lord at the age of 99. She was born to the late Florence Simpson of Reidsville, NC. Katherine was preceded in death by her husband, Ervin Williams of New York, New York.
Katherine left North Carolina at the age of 13 and after a brief stay in DC, traveled to Harlem, New York where she made her home for 74 years. She was a proud domestic worker who also earned a degree in cosmetology and completed a course of study for Nurse’s Aide.
Throughout her long life Katherine has been a beloved daughter, sister, aunt, wife, cousin and friend. She was devoted to her large extended family in North Carolina and her Harlem community. But above all Katherine was devoted to the Lord. She was baptized at the age of 14 at Shiloh Church of Christ in Harlem where she was a member for 70 plus years.
Katherine was beautiful, kind, strong and generous; a blessing to many. She will be greatly missed.
Visiting will be Tuesday from 7-9pm at Lloyd Maxcy & Sons Beauchamp Chapel, Inc., 16 Shea Place, New Rochelle. A funeral service will be Wednesday 10am at St. Luke’s Luthern Church, New Rochelle. Interment will follow at Mount Holiness Memorial Park in Butler, NJ.
