Alfred John Raffio Sr., a beloved member of the New Rochelle community and U.S. veteran, passed away on January 10, 2016 at Saint Francis Hospital in Wilmington, Delaware at the age of 84. Mr. Raffio was born on May 6th, 1931 in New Rochelle, NY. to parents Emilio Raffio and Carmela Spallone.
Mr. Raffio was employed by the Ursuline School of New Rochelle for many years, touching the lives of countless students, teachers and faculty members with his humor, care, and pride of work. The Ursuline community held a special place in his heart. Prior to his time at the school, he honorably served in the United States Army during the Korean War.
He is survived by three sons: Emil J. Raffio of Delaware, Michael Raffio of Connecticut and John Raffio of Florida, as well as six grandchildren and one great grandchild. He was predeceased by his wife, Clara Guadagnoli Raffio, and son, Alfred J. Raffio, Jr. After nearly a lifetime in New Rochelle, he retired in Delaware.
A Memorial service will be held on February 6, 2016 at 10:30am at Lloyd Maxcy & Sons.
