Mary M. Kennedy, a longtime resident of New Rochelle, passed away on December 16, 2015, surrounded by her family at her home. She was 87.
Mary, known as “Mae” to her family and friends, was born on August 31, 1928 in Glasgow, Scotland to the late William and Annabella (Baird) Kennedy. She came to America in 1960, and went to work for New York Telephone Company and Nabisco Foods. After a brief retirement from Nabisco Foods, she began work at The College of New Rochelle where she retired in 1996.
Mary will be remembered for her wit and humor, infectious laugh, kind heart and generosity. She enjoyed traveling, playing bingo, visiting Atlantic City, knitting and crocheting and a good wee cup of tea. She will be sadly missed.
She is survived by her siblings; William Kennedy, Rita Blondo and Margaret Junior; her 2 nephews, her niece, and 4 great nephews.
She was predeceased by her two siblings; Jean and Robert Kennedy.
A memorial service is scheduled for Sunday, December 27 from 11am-1pm at Lloyd Maxcy & Sons Beauchamp Chapel, 16 Shea Pl, New Rochelle. A funeral service will be held at 12:30pm at the funeral home. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to Calvary Hospice Fund, 1740 Eastchester Road, Bronx, NY 10461.
