Dudley F. Coombs

IMG_1027 Dudley F. “Duds” Coombs of Dudley F. “Duds” Coombs of Mount Vernon, NY passed
away peacefully on December 5, 2015. He was 90. Dudley was
born on May 3, 1925 in Kingston Jamaica to the late David
Coombs and Daisy (Burke) Phillips. He was the oldest of
twelve children, seven boys and five girls.
He worked as a Cabinet Carpenter for many years and then in
the Tourism Industry. He migrated to the United States, New
Rochelle in the early ’70’s with his then wife Delores and children.
Dudley was a phenomenal, gentle, kindhearted soul, a
loving husband, father and brother. He had a love for baseball
which he shared with one of his sons Courtney.
Dudley was faithfully attending the Mount Vernon SDA
Church with his wife for over twenty years and is loved by his
church family.
He is survived by his wife Ceciline Coombs; children- Carol
Coombs-Smith, Hardley Coombs, his wife Shanda Coombs,
Delon Coombs, his wife Tammy Coombs, Courtney Coombs
and significant supporter Adrian Coombs; his step-children,
Catherine Spillner and Richard Martin and Ceceline’s extended
family here and abroad. Eleven grandchildren, one stepgrandchild
and five great-grandchildren. Four brothers –
Gladstone Phillips, Sammy Phillips, Hopeton Phillips and
Ruddy Phillips, three sisters Marjorie Christie, Verna Fletcher
her husband Charles Fletcher and Yvonne Nembhard her husband
Don Nembhard as well as many wonderful and accomplished
nieces and nephews.
He is predeceased by his parents, David and Daisy; his brothers,
Stanley Coombs and Francis Phillips; sisters Faye Phillips
and Avis Phillips.
He will be missed!! May he rest in peace!
