Ronald J. La Porte, a lifelong resident of New Rochelle, died on November 30, 2015.
He was 63 years old.
Born on March 21, 1952, he was the son of Joseph V. La Porte and Rosalie (nee Campbell) O’Malley. He was a 1970 graduate of New Rochelle High School and a 1972 graduate of Westchester Community College. He had a career in sales working at such places as Tallner’s Jewelers in New Rochelle and in a leather goods store in NYC.
Both his father and his mother pre-decease him. He is survived by his brother Joseph (Elizabeth); his niece Rachel Wolfield (Daniel); a great-nephew and great-niece; his paternal Aunt Barbara La Porte Quaranta; many La Porte and Campbell cousins; and many loving friends.
Ronald was a member of the Union Baptist Church. He served as a deacon and was involved in other church activities. He had a deep love for the church and spent many hours devoted to its works.
Visiting hours will be on Friday, December 4th from 4-8 pm. A service will take place at the funeral home on Saturday, December 5th at 10:00 am. The Reverend Reginald Hudson will officiate. Interment will take place at Greenwood Union Cemetery in Rye, NY.
In lieu of flowers the family has requested that donations be made in Ronald’s memory to the Union Baptist Church, 438 Main Street/P.O. Box 1743, New Rochelle, NY 10801.
