Florence B. Vietro

Florence B. Vietro age 100, a lifelong resident of New Rochelle, passed away peacefully February 27, 2015 at her home surrounded by her family. A worldwide traveler, Miss Vietro often stated how much she loved New Rochelle. She truly lived by the saying “There is no place like home”. She was predeceased by her parents Nicolo and Lucia (Nee Sansone), three brothers: Nicolas, James and Dominick and sisters Lucy, Giaconda “Chick” and Teresa Parente as well as her nephew Ralph (Irene) Parente and niece Sarah (Charles) Young.
A devout Catholic, she was a lifelong parishioner of St. Joseph’s Church. She gained much solace, comfort and strength from her religion which enabled her to endure hardships and enjoy many blessings.
Second to her religious beliefs, has always been her belief in family. She was “Aunt Flo” to four generations of nieces and nephews as well as their friends. Aunt Flo often stated the happiest times are those shared with family.
Miss Vietro’s employment included working in the original Woolworths on Main Street, Fort Slocum, Sanborn Map Company and New Rochelle Hospital.
She is survived by her niece Catherine (John) Corrado and nephews James (Carol) Vietro and Arthur (Wayne Vorpahl) Vietro. In addition, she is survived by multi-generations of Vietro, Parente and Young Families.
