Irving Garfield Peterson formerly of Mount Vernon, NY, passed away on November 6, 2014 in New Rochelle, NY after a long illness.
Mr. Peterson was born on July 9, 1924 in Bluemont, Va. (Loudon County) to Louis Adam and Mary Howard Peterson. He was the fourth of thirteen children.
Mr. Peterson served his country honorably in the US Army during World War II.
His long work life was in New York City’s garment industry.
Mr. Peterson was pre-deceased by his beloved wife Harriet, and three sons Irving Jr., Marlon and William.
Left to cherish his precious memory are his children Milton (Maureen) , Florence, and Robert (Adrienne) , daughters-in-law Juanita and Joyce, 24 Grandchildren, 23 Great-Grandchildren and many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
Visiting will be Thursday from 4-8pm at Lloyd Maxcy & Sons Beauchamp Chapel, Inc., 16 Shea Place, New Rochelle, NY. A funeral service will be on Friday at 11am at the Funeral Home. Interment will folow at Long Island National Cemetery, Farmingdale, NY.
