James Alexander Macera

James Alexander Macera (Vincenzo Macera) passed on July 15, 2014 at the age of 95. At the time of his death he was living in Charlotte, North Carolina. He was born on October 20, 1918 in White Plains to Giovanna Centrella and to the late Vincenzo Macera who had died two days prior to his birth. He met and married his wife Patricia Donnelly on February 14, 1941 and they made their home in New Rochelle, New York. He graduated from White Plains High School and was a World War II veteran who served in the Army Air Force. He owned Wykagyl Market, a fruit, vegetable, and gourmet business in New Rochelle, New York for over 40 years.
He is survived by his wife of 73 years, Patricia Donnelly Macera of Charlotte, North Carolina. He is also survived by his children Jeanne Mcleod and husband Rod of Huntersville, North Carolina, Lindsay Piscitello and husband Carl of New Rochelle, New York and Lisa Sandhaus and husband Craig of Huntersville, North Carolina. He is also survived by his grandchildren Rodd McLeod, Tricia McLeod-Vidal and wife Lucy, Ryan McLeod and wife Anna, Jaime Dean and husband Chat, Adam Piscitello, Stephanie Burr and husband Hacker, Steven Sandhaus, Rebeca Sandhaus, and Brad Sandhaus. Great-grandchildren are McAlley and Hadley Burr and Colton and Caden Dean.
He was predeceased by his son James Alexander Macera, Jr. of New Rochelle, New York in 1997. He was also predeceased by his brothers Anthony Macera, Charles Macera, Joseph Macera and his sisters Rose Caminiti and Antoinette Casilinova.
A memorial service will be held at Lloyd Maxcy Funeral Home on Friday, July 25, 2014 from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm and at the home of Lindsay and Carl Piscitello of 34 John Alden Rd., New Rochelle, New York 10801 from 6:00pm to 9:00pm. Mass will be celebrated at Holy Name Church, 74 Petersville Rd.,New Rochelle, New York on Saturday, July 26, 2014 at 10:30am. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made in his name to Serenity House 110 Centre Church Rd. Moorsville, North Carolina 28177.
