Michael L. Blanco

Michael L. Blanco, a longtime resident of Stony Point, NY, died on April 4, 2014. He was 90.

Michael was born on September 26, 1923 in New Rochelle to the late Antonio and Maria (Ruccolo) Blanco. He attended New Rochelle Public Schools and graduated from Albert Leonard High School in 1942. He enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Force and served in England during WWII. After working in various mechanical related jobs, he professed as a Salesian of Don Bosco as a religious brother. After leaving the brotherhood, he married Margaret (Peggy) Roberts on August 12, 1972. She died on March 13, 2013.

Michael was a skilled auto mechanic, cabinet maker and machinist. He was foreman of the Haverstraw Transit Company for almost 20 years. He was a most generous donor of the building of the Marian Chapel and the rebuilding of the Rosary Way at the Marian Shrine in Stony Point. Michael is survived by his sister Lena Nieminen, his brother Louis and his wife Rita, and John, who is a Salesian Priest. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews and their children. He was predeceased by his brother Frank (1968), his brother- in law Niilo Nieminen (1973), his sister-in-law Ann (1992), and his niece Carol Ann (2012).Visiting will be Sunday 2-4 & 7-9pm at Lloyd Maxcy & Sons Beauchamp Chapel, 16 Shea Pl, New Rochelle. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday 10:30am10:30am at Blessed Sacrament Church. Interment will follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
