Mary Maureen Kilroy Zottner, 67, of New Rochelle, passed away December 22, 2013 in her sleep. She was born on December 28, 1945 in Buffalo, NY to the late Fred and Regina (nee. Duman) Kilroy. She was proudly raised in Buffalo, graduated Holy Angels Academy in 1963 and Nazareth College of Rochester in 1967, and moved to New Rochelle, Tom’s hometown, where they raised their family. Mrs. Zottner had been teaching at The Ursuline School since 1984, known as “The Math Whisperer” for her uncanny ability to communicate with students of any ability. She was also a celebrated tutor, preparing scores of high schoolers for standardized tests, final exams or an upcoming quiz without ever charging a fee for service. With her husband, she was an active member of Wykagyl Country Club where she served on the pool committee, enjoyed bowling and bridge and contributed as an editor to the club’s centennial yearbook. The Mary Maureen Colleen Kilroy Zottner Award is given each year at the club’s swim team dinner to the parent who has gone above and beyond in service to the team and coaches.
