John Margotta, Sr., a lifelong resident of New Rochelle, died on December 31, 2013. He was 90.
John was born on January 16, 1923 in New Rochelle to the late Vito and Antoinette (Cestone) Margotta.
He was a retired plumber who worked for many years at the New Rochelle Board of Education. He served in the Navy “Seabees” during WWII and was stationed in Okinawa. He was the longest and oldest member of the Foresters Club in New Rochelle. He was predeceased by his wife the former Carmela Bologna who died in 2006. He is survived by his 3 children: Vita (Bill) Gaedje, John Margotta, Jr. (Ann Bruno), Judy (David) Kucera; his five grandchildren and his 4 great grandchildren. Visiting will be Wednesday 7-9 and Thursday 2-4 & 7-9pm at Lloyd Maxcy & Sons Beauchamp Chapel Inc. 16 Shea Pl. New Rochelle, NY. A funeral mass is scheduled for Friday 10am at St. Joseph Church. Interment will follow Beechwoods Cemetery.
